i read an entry from some blogger reminiscing about her childhood days, and it evoked some of my memories when i was a child.
So i'm gonna write them down too.

Can you try remembering 10 things when you were younger? :)

1. Discipline was very strict at home. I was the scaredy cat. But i reckon my elder brother was scaredier than me, so it gave me an ego boost. However, somehow in the midst of growing up, he turned 'bochap' while i was still scared to defy my parents' orders (till now).

Photobucket

2. My parents bought us only LEGO bricks cos they deem it educational. No soft toys, no dolls, no girly stuff for me. That's why i loved my granddad, cos he bought me all the toys i wanted. Polly Pocket!!! yay! my favourite! I would love to have a doll house, but decided against having granddad to fork out money to buy it for me. So i built my own doll houses, using LEGO bricks :)

3. I loved drawing. And i'm quite good at it, haha.. cos my dad trained my brother and i to draw from a tender age. We took part in all the art competitions we came across and won many awards. My brother was better than me.
Photobucket
usually, i just copied exactly what he drew. but uglier. haha...

4. Kindergarten was scary business. But my ego was much bigger than my fear. So i didnt cry a single bit like the rest of the kids. Anyway, i knew my mom will scold me if i did, haha.
Photobucket
can you spot me? hahaa

I vividly remember the graduation performance we had to put up for all the kids and parents in the kindergarten.
It was supposed to be an event in which all parents would be proud of, seeing their darlings sing and dance on stage. i screwed it up :(
Photobucket

Photobucket
see that scarf on my head going to drop off anytime? (i'm the one on the 1st row) It really did, to my horror, before the song ended :( my scarf dropped onto the floor! so i stood there like a moron, tears welling up in my eyes while my friends continued dancing.
And my best friend, the one with me on the first row, (i still remember her name, xing guan xuan!) threw her own scarf onto the floor, held my hand and we finished off our dance together! When i look back, i realise how smart this 5 year old kid was then! I was utterly grateful to her but i totally felt like shit cos i had made a fool out of myself.

Photobucket
can see i was sulking really badly after the performance, haha.. that's my kindergarten form teacher. i do not remember her name, but she was quite strict i think? anyway, i was afraid of ALL teachers in the past.

5. Primary school was even more scary, hahaa... yeah, come to think of it, fear resided in me most of the time. I was always SCARED :( lol
i remember i didnt dare ask for permission to go to the toilet unless it was really urgent. When i did, the teacher usually let me go. There was once one teacher got angry when i asked her, so i had to go back to my seat. I couldnt stand it any longer so i peed in my pants :(
That time, we were sitting in groups of 5. My friend, who was sitting beside me, saw the 'water' forming a puddle under me. She was really nice and comforted me. I think the teacher didnt realise anything (thankfully) until it was the end of the lesson. All the kids scrambled out of the class, leaving me still stuck at my seat, wretched and wet :( My form teacher got me to change into a new set of uniform and told my mom about it. No, my mom didnt scold me, haha..

6. The same teacher who refused to let me go to relief myself was the same teacher who taught me English. There was this one time she was collecting our files when she realised one of us didnt hand it up. I was pretty sure i handed mine up to my group leader.
My teacher got really enraged when nobody confessed. And i remember her exact words, "If I catch the person who did not hand up, I will wring his/her head off from the neck!"
It WAS scary! we frantically searched our bags again to make sure we wont be the 'one' and to my utmost HORROR, I FOUND MY FILE UNDER MY DESK!
i tell u, i was trembling like a dead leaf and i swear i can hear Beethoven's Symphony No.5 ringing in my ears.
i took the file and slowly raised it up above me. The teacher stormed over, took the file from me and walked off without saying a word. PHEW! Now i know not all teachers meant what they say...

7. No boys liked me. cos i wasnt those 'pretty young things' in the class. I was not allowed to keep long hair and plait them nicely like the rest of my girlfriends. I have to sport the nerdy helmet hairstyle all the way till poly. My best friend is a popular girl, yes, she is pretty! (but i've lost contact with her :*( i cant even find her on facebook! :( ) and all the boys in the class swoons over her! They gave her all the attention, cards, even 'proposal' rings!! hahaa
i wasnt jealous la, but i just secretly wish i was half as pretty as the girls in my class, heee.. but it didnt bother me. cos my parents emphasized more on 'results' than 'looks', so well....

8. i collected tissue wrappers :D
i still have my collection with me! i put all the tissue wrappers into an album.
Photobucket

Photobucket
the only design that didnt change after so many years is "O'Darling", LOL

9. As i grew older, i didnt take many photos. In fact, i hated it cos i looked ugly. I was as thin as a skeleton and nerdy like nobody's business. i hated being a teenager cos i was neither here nor there. i kept to myself and i did what i liked. i drew and drew and drew, haha
i wanted to be a comic artist, but my mom was against the idea. "How much can you earn being a comic artist?" she dampened.
so i became a comic artist 'in my own world' :) and i liked it that way. I drew and compiled my own comic books during the holidays. Every day of the holiday month, i stayed in my room and drew 10+ hours straight.
i found 3 of my self drawn comics, hahaa (misplaced one of them. And i cant remember where it is)
Photobucket
they ARE THICK! like a hundred over pages in each.
On average, i use 4 months to work on one =)

Not very professionally done, the last book was completed in 2002, 8 years ago.
Photobucket
but it's for my own pleasure reading, hahaa... no, i dont dare to let anyone read it unless she is very very close to me cos i will feel super embarrassed. But i'm proud of my work. very proud =)

10. i kept a diary. Since i was in primary school. A diary is an outlet for me to express myself, since i'm more of an introvert. I do not like to express my feelings outwardly, face-to-face. I rather write and nobody reads it, haha.. Now, i blog, hahaa. It still speaks louder than me :)

i'm itching to blog.

but somehow, something in me just wants my "Universal Studios" post to stay on this page forever, hahaa.. anyway, i realised that That particular entry took one whole page on my blog! heh... and i like it :)
hmmm.. i wonder if it would move to the second page once i starts blogging a new entry.

Yesterday was 'Collection day', hahaa.. cos i got so many new stuff :)
the postman delivered my new bag, got myself a super cute romper and collected my Taiwan spree items from zen in the evening!
Yes, i shall hereby stop all spending (read: shopping) from this day forward! Jayen will be happy to hear this, haha.. but he doesnt really nag at me. He just says i'm always in a different outfit everyday. Actually, one of my classmate commented before..
She said, "i aspire to be like you. To strive never to wear repeated clothes!" -___-!! and she's got this idolizing look on her face, like she very 崇拜 me like that!?

Definitely NOT a compliment for me.
But... But i do wear the same clothes what. For work. i will be super lok kok and repeat those 5 t-shirts every time (for 3 years! Same when i was teaching in a school. My clothes everyweek always the same one, hahaa.. ) Just that when i meet friends or go to school, i tend to dress up abit. And just so happen that when i do shop, i usually buy 'outing' clothes instead of clothes fit for work. Cos i dread working clothes! Got the misconception that working clothes are all ugly...

and i still do think so!

okay, i am going to end abruptly. cos i wannnna doze off liaoooo...
upload the photos of my loot another day. Good night!

Monday, June 21, 2010

i've just uploaded 108 photos for this entry *pants*
out of the 445 photos taken yesterday at Universal Studios, Sentosa.

it is like blogging a 3day2 night bintan trip with so many photos, omg. Yeap, i missed going overseas, but with so many new attractions coming up on our own small island, it can somehow satisfy a holiday-deprived me :)
soon soon... i wanna go to some island getaway. i kept telling jayen my new bikini is going to grow mould very soon, haha~

anyway, we had helluva' great time at Universal Studios yesterday. Everything was great!
From the "i wan a sunny weather!" prayer that God has lovingly answered us, to taking truckloads of awesome photographs! i went home damn high and looking through all the photos taken kept me high for a very long time, haha

i woke up very early today to work and rushed home after that to resize all my photos before uploading them. i'm tired but i couldnt wait to blog! THIS, i call, motivation.
:)

jayen and i booked the tickets 5 days in advance. Initially we planned to go last Friday, but the tickets were already sold out. The earliest available date was Sunday. It wasnt that bad after all! =) we still managed to work things out and clear that day for fun!!

we planned to get ourselves prepared by 830am but ended up, we couldnt climb out of bed that early. Jayen had a sleepless night cos he was too excited... -_- hahaa.. so i called him only at 9am. For me, i couldnt wait so i woke up time and again to check the alarm.

and YEAH
Photobucket
here we are, hehe... the sun was indeed glaring in the morning already. We love this revolving globe which has cool mist coming out from the bottom. More so on a hot day!
Photobucket
yes, the words on my tee reads, "I ♥ my boyfriend." HAHA

anyway, the ticketing counters were all closed cos the tickets for today were already sold out. very sad. Alot of angmohs (read: tourists) were stranded outside the entrance! :( Now I know why they put this globe outside the entrance. At least, those people who had made a wasted trip here can still take photos with the globe to neutralise their anger and disappointment.

No time wasted!!
Here we come!
Photobucket
Photobucket
we first went to collect our meal and shopping vouchers from the counter. Not bad. even though the entrance fees were sky high (72 bucks per person), they still gave us $10 worth of vouchers, teehehe~
Photobucket
It is not exactly huge, but big enough for you to spend the whole day walking around and ending up with sore feet, hehe

Photobucket

Photobucket

we went into the Pantages Hollywood Theatre first to watch a rock-n-roll musical featuring the Universal monsters (like The Mummy, Frankenstein etc.) The musical was very entertaining indeed! =) Too bad no photography allowed in the theatre. It lasted for a mere 20 minutes and out we went into the sun again!

Right beside the theatre was this shop selling quirky hats, haha
Photobucket
and the best part is,
you can try them on and take photos, wahaha~ i dont know if it's allowed but everybody is doing it, so we followed suit and joined in the fun, hehe
Photobucket
wahahhaa... i like jayen in that yellow cap. I think it's Bob the Builder-inspired, haha.. but it reminds me more of this!
Photobucket

i didnt really like the 'shade' above. Though it shelters the visitors from the rain, but without it, you feel like you're in another country!
Photobucket
Thankfully, the shade is just a small part of it.

you can pose with literally everything here!! :D
Photobucket

Photobucket
love the architecture!
Photobucket
some dancers are dancing street hip-hop! They even asked volunteers who are game to dance on the spot! Think got prize money of 200 dollars to win!
Photobucket

Photobucket
i like that quote: "Wisdom and Knowledge Shall be the Stability of Thy Time"

Photobucket

Photobucket

After the 'Hollywood' tour, we went over to the 'Sci-Fi City'.
Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
which was actually not opened yet?
Photobucket
This isnt in operation. Thankfully it wasn't cos jayen finds this very cool and actually thought of going up for a ride!!
The last place i want is to be suspended 14 storeys above ground level, moving at 90km/h.
i think i will die up here. See those blue and red tracks?
The blue is for
Photobucket
and the red is for
Photobucket
i think the blue and red roller coasters are going to engage in a 'battle' up in the air, haha.
Cylons or Humans? you choose.

Photobucket
Guys just love Sci-Fi stuff which i'm not a fan of. i would very gladly welcome a Sanrio-theme in Universal Studios anytime!
I know it wont happen. Imagine Rilakkuma in here. It must have looked very weird.
Photobucket

Photobucket

Next, we went to 'Ancient Egypt'!
Photobucket
jayen looks damn happy here.

See who we spotted!
Photobucket
Anubis, The Egyptian God of Death.
Photobucket
Omg. That expression on my face is for real! Cos this Anubis is abit too 假戏真做. He was pushing my head with so much force! Scary enough and he doesnt smile! Universal Studios should give this guy an award for being too committed to his role, haha
Photobucket
Some cafe which has very nice deco (from the outside). We didnt go in. Who doesnt know the cafes in the theme park charge exorbitant prices?

The roller coaster was free though, haha.. We camped our belongings at the free lockers somewhere beside so that our phones or wallets wont start flying out when we're on the roller coaster.
It's an indoor thrill ride which is totally dark!! (OK, i admit i was closing my eyes all the way, cos it was DARN SCARY lar!) Jayen wasnt much braver than me also! When he said he wanted to try the roller coaster at the Sci-Fi City, he was just joking (i know).
We had to walk through this super long and dimly-lit maze which adds more to our fear even before we went on the roller coaster! Somemore it was eerily cold with scary music and some mummy saying that we are going to die inside or something!
Fear factor: 4/5! (for faint-hearted us)

Indeed, it was scary! i was clutching tightly onto jayen and we were screaming our lungs out THROUGHOUT the whole ride! It's like you cant anticipate falling or twisting cos it was pitch-dark. I just know we fell from quite a high place and it was VERY SCARY! actually i was more afraid of jayen being scared! haha.. yah, very stupid i know, but i tend to worry for the person who's on the ride together with me rather than being scared of the ride itself! Maybe that's my way of lessening the fear in me? heh..
LUCKILY it lasted only like less than a minute? Thank God!
When we reached the end, all of us clapped in relief, hahaa! There was this Malay auntie behind us who was so cute! she said, "Alamak Tolong! One time enough already!"
hahhaha~

we all scrambled out with wobbly legs, haha
Photobucket
jayen. hahaa... i know he's damn scared. like me.
That's why i love going to theme parks with him, cos i dont get pressured to go for too-thrilling rides like these.
If i go with cousin kaya, i know i will die somewhere on some roller coaster at some theme park, haha, cos she's game for ALL thrill rides. The more thrill, the better! Totally salute her!

Jayen bought an ice-cream to calm our nerves, haha
Photobucket
Ahdear, this is how u look when u are freaked out.
i've seen that exact same expression when you are on the Skyride at Sentosa, wahaha~

Photobucket

Photobucket
=)

Next,
Photobucket
There was nothing much there. The queue at the 'water raft ride' was crazy! and I definitely didnt want to get wet, so we gave it a miss! *phew*
Photobucket
Dinosaur eggs?

Then, we came to this place far far away, haha..
Photobucket
CASTLE!
Photobucket
eee. i dont like Shrek.
This roller coaster was for 'juniors', haha.. more child-friendly, so jayen and i queued up for it, hehe
Photobucket
When we were queuing up, we saw an ahma climb out from the roller coaster after the ride! She was so old, i estimate her to be around 70+ years old! And she still dares to sit on the roller coaster lor! haha... really puts us 'youngsters' to shame!
So i kept telling jayen that even an ahma is not scared, so why should we!
And ended up, we still screamed throughout the ride! -____-!
and then when the roller coaster finished one round and was waiting in the open for dunno what, jayen suddenly exclaimed very loudly, "Hah! Dont tell me have to go one more round again!?" Hearing that, the 2 teenage girls sitting behind us started giggling.
Haiz, we 真没用!

No more roller coasters for us!
This would be good, hahaha! we're at Madagascar!
Photobucket

This is uber cute!
Photobucket
i'm sitting on him!
Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

we had our photos professionally taken!
Photobucket
It is really pretty! $12 bucks each

Photobucket
The colours look yummy! Talking about that, we were then famished and in need of somewhere air-conditioned under the sweltering heat!

And we found heaven at Mel's Drive-In!
Photobucket
we had 2 burger set meals and after using our 10 dollar meal vouchers, we topped up only 9 bucks in cash for a hearty meal! (i heard the chicken rice at the food court is selling for 12 bucks! so our set meals are considered cheap! haha)
Photobucket

After our lunch and when we had enough of the air-con, we went out and stopped by a push cart selling awards and medals, haha
Photobucket
candid. Jayen is awarded "Best Lover" from me, hahaa!

And i had to 'ask' -_- this from him lor, Tsk!
Photobucket
sheesh.

we took many photos..
Photobucket

Photobucket
of ourselves, haha
Photobucket

Photobucket

we saw one mother 'strolling' her son, haha!
Photobucket
Invited alot of curious and shocked stares from passers-by , haha, but the parents weren't the least bothered.

Photobucket
=)
Photobucket

Photobucket

we went into the castle!
Photobucket
While queuing up, we took silly photos
Photobucket

facebook? lol
Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
and got to watch a 4D Shrek Movie!! It was certainly entertaining!!! wahahaha~
We 'got sneezed at, tickled by a whole bunch of spiders, flew through the air' etc...
haha~

We also went to filmmaker, Steven Spielberg's sound stage to see and feel the incredible effects of a major hurricane hitting New York City!
i was too awestruck to take any photos except one here (before the special effects came!)
Photobucket
A storm was brewing.
It's like you are right in this shipyard witnessing and experiencing the hurricane before your very eyes! Totally awesome, i can say! Those three panels of windows flew out after that and we could feel the storm, wind, fire, rain (yes, we got wet!) and most importantly, that FEAR! hahaa

Next, we proceeded to WaterWorld!
Photobucket
It definitely lived up to its name. Cos most of us got wet.... AGAIN!
Photobucket

Photobucket
those angmohs were entertaining us (more like entertaining themselves) by spraying and splashing water on the audience before the show even started! One was even sneaking around behind to secretly spray water at us!
Photobucket
But it was quite funny cos one kid volunteer got himself sabotaged and was drenched when 2 buckets of water were poured over him!
The action starts!
Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
This is amazing too! There were explosions, fire, gunpowder as well as death-defying feats..
Photobucket
Just look at the man flying through the air!! There were more stunts like that!
Well indeed, they totally deserved the thundering applause given by the audience after that!

Guess who we bumped into!
Photobucket
Definitely my favourite character from Universal Studios!

One more photograph printed!
Photobucket

Photobucket
YAY!

After that, we saw Marilyn Monroe parading around!
Photobucket
oops, look where the lady in purple is staring at! hahaa, her boobs! haha

yay!
Photobucket
Photobucket
By late afternoon, we were so exhausted that we settled down at the nearby tables and shared a snack of hot RotiPrata with chicken curry!
Photobucket
It was piping hot and really tasty!!!
Photobucket

Photobucket

Soon, it was sundown and the lights made Universal Studios even more enchanting!
Photobucket

Photobucket
candy store!
Photobucket

Madagascar at night!
Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

we decided to exchange our $10 shopping vouchers for souvenirs. We didnt want to pay extra, so we got these 2 pens for $9.80, haha. The black for him, and the white for myself.
Photobucket

At around 9pm, we left Universal Studios!
Photobucket
photo taken by jayen. he's very proud of himself, hehe

It was a fruitful day spent at Sentosa Resorts World! Though we were beaten, jayen and i totally enjoyed ourselves to the max!!!
Thank you Universal Studios for making our day this FUN!!! :D
